King of Awadh

The King of Awadh was the ruler of the princely state of Awadh (also called Oudh) in northern India during British rule. Awadh was a significant region known for its rich culture, history, and strategic location. The king governed local affairs and maintained traditions, but ultimately, the British East India Company or British Crown held political authority. The last notable ruler, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, was deposed in 1856 during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Today, Awadh's cultural legacy influences Northern Indian cuisine, music, and arts.
