King Ferdinand II of Aragon
King Ferdinand II of Aragon was a significant monarch of Spain during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Along with his wife, Queen Isabella I of Castile, he unified much of Spain through marriage and political alliances. Their joint reign ended centuries of regional divisions and laid the foundation for a centralized Spanish state. Ferdinand was also notable for supporting Columbus’s voyage in 1492, which led to the European discovery of the Americas, and for his efforts to strengthen the Catholic Church and expel non-Christians from Spain. His leadership greatly shaped Spain’s political, religious, and global influence.
