
King Chulalongkorn (Rama V)
King Chulalongkorn, also known as Rama V, was a highly respected Thai monarch who reigned from 1868 to 1910. He modernized Thailand by reforming its government, legal system, and education, helping the country avoid colonization. He worked to improve infrastructure, such as roads and railways, and promoted social reforms including the abolition of slavery. Known for his diplomatic skills, he maintained Thailand’s independence amid European expansion in Southeast Asia. His leadership laid the foundation for modern Thailand, earning him the nickname "The Great."
