
King Béla IV of Hungary
King Béla IV of Hungary (reigned 1235–1270) was known as a resilient and reform-minded ruler. He faced significant challenges, notably the Mongol invasion of 1241, which devastated the country. Béla responded by rebuilding Hungary’s defenses, strengthening castles, and encouraging settlement and development. His reign focused on restoring stability, promoting church and state, and fostering economic growth.
