Khalkha people

The Khalkha people are the largest ethnic group in Mongolia, primarily inhabiting the central and eastern regions. They speak the Khalkha dialect of the Mongolian language and traditionally follow Tibetan Buddhism mixed with shamanistic practices. Historically, they formed the core of the Mongol Empire under Genghis Khan and have maintained a rich cultural heritage rooted in nomadic pastoralism, horsemanship, and traditional attire. Today, Khalkha people continue to preserve their cultural identity while contributing to Mongolia's national development and modern society.
