Khalistan

Khalistan is a proposed independent Sikh homeland, primarily rooted in the desire for a sovereign state for Sikhs in the Punjab region of India. The movement emerged in the 20th century, motivated by cultural, religious, and political concerns, including safeguarding Sikh identity and rights. While some supporters advocate peacefully for autonomy or independence, others have engaged in militant activities, leading to conflict and violence, especially during the 1980s.
