Keyline Design

Keyline Design is a land management and agricultural technique developed by Australian engineer P.A. Yeomans in the 1950s. It focuses on optimizing water flow and soil fertility by understanding the natural landscape's contours. By identifying keylines—specific lines on the land where water naturally moves—farmers can design their fields, pastures, and irrigation systems to improve water retention, enhance crop growth, and promote sustainable land use. This approach supports ecological balance, increases agricultural productivity, and helps manage water resources efficiently, making it particularly beneficial in areas prone to drought or erosion.
