Kenmu constitution

The Kenmu Constitution, enacted in 1334 during Japan's Kenmu Restoration, was an early effort to reorganize government after the fall of the Kamakura shogunate. It aimed to strengthen imperial authority and promote centralized governance by establishing clear roles for the Emperor and military leaders. The constitution emphasized loyalty to the Emperor and sought to limit the power of regional warrior clans, fostering a more unified political structure. Although it laid groundwork for future governance, its implementation was short-lived, and subsequent power shifts led to the return of samurai dominance.
