Kavadh I

Kavadh I was a Sassanian king who ruled from 488 to 531 AD in ancient Persia (modern Iran). He is best known for his attempts to reform the Persian Empire and strengthen its power amid challenges from the Byzantine Empire and internal strife. Kavadh promoted Zoroastrianism, the state religion, and supported the Mazdakite movement, which advocated for social justice and wealth redistribution. His reign saw military confrontations and the consolidation of royal authority, ultimately laying the groundwork for his son, Khosrow I, who would further develop the empire. Kavadh's legacy is marked by both religious and political significance in Persian history.
