Karl XV of Sweden
Karl XV of Sweden, born in 1826, was king from 1859 until his death in 1872. He was known for his active interest in military and cultural affairs, and his reign emphasized modernization of Sweden’s infrastructure and institutions. As a member of the House of Bernadotte, he aimed to promote national unity and stability during a period of social and technological change. Karl XV also served as King of Norway until the two countries peacefully dissolved their union in 1905. His leadership helped lay groundwork for Sweden's later development into a modern constitutional monarchy.
