Kafiristan Expedition

The Kafiristan Expedition was a military campaign by Afghanistan in 1895 aimed at conquering the remote region of Kafiristan, inhabited by isolated ethnic groups known as Kafirs. The Afghan forces sought to bring the area under central control, motivated by strategic and religious reasons, as the Kafirs practiced indigenous beliefs differing from Islam. The expedition resulted in the subjugation of the local tribes, the incorporation of Kafiristan into Afghanistan, and the eventual conversion of many inhabitants to Islam. This campaign marked a significant expansion of Afghan territory and influence into a historically autonomous region.
