Kōno Bairei (河野梅翠) was a prominent Japanese painter born in 1844 and active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He specialized in Nihonga, a traditional Japanese painting style that often incorporates natural materials like mineral pigments and washi (paper). Bairei is well-known for his delicate and detailed depictions of flowers, birds, and landscapes, reflecting a deep appreciation for nature. His works often combine traditional Japanese aesthetics with influences from Western art, showcasing a unique blend of styles that contributed to the evolution of Japanese visual art during his time. He passed away in 1895.
