Juneteenth

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Although the Civil War ended in 1865 and the Emancipation Proclamation had freed slaves earlier, many remained enslaved in certain regions until June 19th, when Union soldiers arrived in Texas to enforce freedom. Over time, Juneteenth has become a symbolic day of reflection, cultural pride, and awareness of African American history and achievements. It is recognized as a state holiday or observance in many parts of the U.S., emphasizing themes of liberation, resilience, and ongoing efforts toward racial equality.
