Jugurtha
Jugurtha was a king of Numidia, a region in North Africa, who reigned in the 2nd century BCE. He is best known for his conflict with Rome, known as the Jugurthine War (109-105 BCE). Jugurtha skillfully employed diplomacy and guerrilla tactics to resist Roman forces. His actions exposed corruption within the Roman political system, as he used bribery to influence Roman senators. Ultimately, Jugurtha was defeated by the Roman general Gaius Marius and his lieutenant Lucius Cornelius Sulla. His story highlights themes of power, political intrigue, and the complexities of imperial expansion in ancient Rome.
