Juan de Fuca Plate

The Juan de Fuca Plate is a tectonic plate located off the Pacific Northwest coast of North America. It is a small plate that lies between the Pacific Plate to the west and the North American Plate to the east. This area is known for frequent seismic activity, including earthquakes, due to the interaction of these plates. As the Juan de Fuca Plate slowly moves eastward, it dives beneath the North American Plate in a process called subduction, which can lead to volcanic activity and the formation of mountain ranges, like the Cascades.
