The Japan Sumo Association (JSA) is the governing body responsible for managing professional sumo wrestling in Japan. It oversees the promotion, regulation, and organization of sumo tournaments, maintains the ranking system, and manages the training of wrestlers known as rikishi. The JSA establishes rules, preserves traditions, and promotes the sport both domestically and internationally. It also manages the venues, negotiates sponsorships, and supports wrestlers' welfare. Essentially, the JSA functions as the central authority ensuring the integrity, organization, and cultural continuity of sumo wrestling as Japan’s national sport.
