Jordan's Principle

Jordan's Principle is a policy in Canada that ensures First Nations children receive the public services they need without delays or barriers. Named after Jordan River Anderson, a First Nations child who faced challenges accessing health care services while the government debated funding responsibilities, the principle asserts that when there is uncertainty about which level of government should provide a service, the needs of the child come first. It aims to eliminate discrimination and promote equitable access to health, education, and social services for Indigenous children across Canada.
