Joint Implementation

Joint Implementation (JI) is a climate cooperation mechanism where one country invests in greenhouse gas reduction projects in another country, usually within the framework of an international agreement like the Kyoto Protocol. In return, the investing country earns emission reduction credits that can help meet its own emission targets. Essentially, JI allows countries to work together to lower overall emissions efficiently, sharing the benefits and responsibilities of climate actions across borders. It promotes sustainable development and technological exchange, making global efforts to combat climate change more effective and collaborative.
