John Sevier

John Sevier was an important American frontiersman, soldier, and politician in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He is best known as the first governor of Tennessee, serving from 1796 to 1801 and again from 1803 to 1809. Sevier played a significant role in the early settlement of the region, participating in conflicts with Native Americans and leading local militia efforts.
