
John McLendon
John McLendon was an influential African American basketball coach and a pioneer in the sport. Born in 1915, he became the first coach to integrate college basketball in the United States while at North Carolina College for Negroes. McLendon was known for his innovative coaching techniques, including fast-breaking offenses and player-centered strategies, which greatly influenced modern basketball. He coached at various colleges and also worked in the NBA.
