John J. McCloy

John J. McCloy (1895–1989) was a prominent American lawyer, banker, and public official. He served as Assistant Secretary of War during World War II, helping to oversee wartime operations. Later, he was president of the World Bank and chairman of Chase Manhattan Bank, influencing global economic policies and finance. McCloy also held key roles in the U.S. government, including as a special envoy and a high-ranking justice of the Supreme Court’s advisory committee. Known for his leadership and expertise, he played a significant role in shaping post-war recovery, international development, and U.S. policies.
