
John Glenn (aviator)
John Glenn was a pioneering American astronaut and aviator, known for being the first American to orbit the Earth in 1962 aboard the Friendship 7 spacecraft. Before his space missions, he had a distinguished career as a fighter pilot in World War II and the Korean War. Later, he served as a U.S. Senator from Ohio for 24 years. In 1998, at the age of 77, he returned to space aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery, becoming the oldest person to fly in space. Glenn's achievements made him a symbol of American ingenuity and courage in the exploration of space.
