John C. Breckinridge

John C. Breckinridge was an American politician who served as the Vice President under James Buchanan from 1857 to 1861. A Southern Democrat from Kentucky, he was known for his support of states' rights and slavery. During the Civil War, he became a Confederate officer, helping to lead Confederate forces. After the war, he moved to Europe for a time, then returned to the U.S., where he resumed his political activities.
