John B. Hood

John B. Hood was a Confederate general during the American Civil War, noted for his aggressive tactics and leadership in several key battles, including the Battle of Gettysburg and the Atlanta Campaign. Born in Kentucky in 1831, Hood rose through the ranks and became known for his boldness, though his career was marked by both impressive victories and significant defeats. He lost a leg at the Battle of Chickamauga, yet continued to command troops. After the war, Hood struggled with his health and financial difficulties, eventually becoming a prominent figure in Louisiana's business community before dying in 1879.
