Johannes Trithemius

Johannes Trithemius (1462–1516) was a German Benedictine monk, scholar, and cryptographer known for his work in both literature and mysticism. He is best remembered for his contributions to the fields of history, magic, and cryptography, particularly his book "Polygraphia," which outlined techniques for writing in code. Trithemius also established the concept of "Steganography," the art of hiding messages in plain sight. His influence extended to notable thinkers such as Johannes Kepler and Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, marking him as a significant figure in the Renaissance, merging scholarly pursuits with the esoteric.
