Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA)

The Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) was enacted in 1982 to provide job training and employment assistance to economically disadvantaged individuals, especially youth and adults facing barriers to employment. It aimed to improve the skills of the workforce through various programs, including job training, education, and support services. JTPA involved partnerships between local governments, businesses, and community organizations to create training opportunities that met regional labor market needs. It was later replaced by the Workforce Investment Act in 1998, which continued its mission of enhancing job opportunities and promoting economic self-sufficiency.
