Jizō (Bodhisattva)

Jizō Bodhisattva is a revered figure in Japanese Buddhism, embodying compassion and protection. Known as Kṣitigarbha in Sanskrit, he vows to help all sentient beings, especially children, souls in hell, and travelers. Often depicted as a gentle monk with a staff and a wish-fulfilling jewel, Jizō is regarded as a guardian who pathetically assists those suffering and guides spirits toward enlightenment. Recognizable by small stone statues and offerings, Jizō exemplifies compassionate commitment and is venerated for providing comfort and hope in challenging circumstances.
