Jimmy V Foundation
The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research is a nonprofit organization founded in 1993 in honor of Jim Valvano, a former college basketball coach and sports broadcaster who battled cancer. The foundation funds innovative cancer research and promotes awareness and education about cancer. Its mission is to defeat cancer by supporting projects that improve treatment and understanding of the disease. The foundation is well-known for its annual sports event, the ESPY Awards, where funds are raised to continue its research funding efforts, all while celebrating achievements in sports and encouraging people to contribute to cancer research.
