Jewish War of 132-136 CE
The Jewish War of 132-136 CE was a rebellion by Jewish communities in Judea against Roman rule, triggered by religious and political tensions, including Roman efforts to impose pagan practices. Led by Simon Bar Kokhba, the rebels aimed to restore Jewish independence and rebuild the Temple. Initially successful, the uprising was eventually crushed by the Roman army, resulting in widespread destruction, significant Jewish casualties, and the widespread dispersion of Jews. The war led to major changes in Judea, including renaming the region Syria Palaestina, to diminish Jewish identity and dominance in the area.
