Jewish Community of Lithuania

The Jewish Community of Lithuania has a rich history dating back over a thousand years, thriving before the Holocaust. It was once home to vibrant Jewish neighborhoods, cultural life, and scholarship. Tragically, during World War II, many Lithuanian Jews were persecuted and murdered by the Nazis and local collaborators. Today, the community is smaller but continues to preserve Jewish heritage, traditions, and culture through organizations, memorials, and cultural events. Lithuania recognizes this history, working to honor the memory of its Jewish population and promote Jewish life and intercultural dialogue within the country.
