Jean-Pierre Menière

Jean-Pierre Menière was a French physician who identified and described a condition now known as Ménière’s disease. This disorder affects the inner ear, causing episodes of vertigo (spinning sensation), hearing loss, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), and a feeling of fullness or pressure. It results from abnormal fluid buildup in the inner ear, disrupting balance and hearing functions. Menière’s work helped distinguish this condition from other ear disorders and contributed to understanding vestibular and auditory health, guiding better diagnosis and management of the symptoms in affected individuals.
