Jean Parisot de la Valette was a notable 16th-century Maltese military leader and statesman, best known for leading the defense of Malta against the Ottoman Empire during the Great Siege of 1565. As Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller, he organized strong defenses and inspired his troops, playing a crucial role in resisting the Ottoman invasion. His leadership preserved Maltese independence and Christianity in the region. Following the victory, he founded Valletta, Malta's capital city, which was designed as a fortress and center of strength, embodying his strategic vision and resilience.
