Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte

Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte was a French military general and politician born in 1763. Originally a Napoleon supporter, he became King of Sweden and Norway in 1810 after being elected Crown Prince, due to his military leadership and political influence. As king, he worked to modernize both countries' institutions and maintained neutrality during European conflicts. His reign, known as the Bernadotte dynasty, lasted until 1844, shaping Scandinavian history.
