Japan Railway Company

Japan Railway Company, often known as JR, is a group of companies that operates much of Japan's railway network. Established in 1987, it was formed from the privatization of the national Japan National Railways. JR provides efficient and reliable train services, including high-speed Shinkansen (bullet trains) and local trains, connecting major cities and regions. The system is known for its punctuality and advanced technology, contributing significantly to Japan's economy and daily commuting. There are several regional JR companies, each managing different areas, but all operate under the JR brand for seamless travel across the country.
