James Francis Edward Stuart (Old Pretender)
James Francis Edward Stuart, known as the "Old Pretender," was the son of King James II of England and VII of Scotland. He was a claimant to the British throne after his father was deposed in 1688 during the Glorious Revolution. Despite being recognized as the legitimate heir by some supporters of the Jacobite movement, he never gained power in Britain. The "Old Pretender" spent much of his life trying to reclaim the throne through political and military efforts but was ultimately unsuccessful. His efforts kept the Jacobite cause alive, influencing British politics and history well into the 18th century.
