Jahanpanah
Jahanpanah was an ancient city in India, serving as a capital during the Delhi Sultanate period. Its name means "Refuge of the World" in Persian, reflecting its importance as a political and cultural center. Built in the early 14th century by Sultan Muhammad bin Tughluq, it was a thriving hub for commerce, architecture, and governance. Over time, it declined and was eventually absorbed into the broader city of Delhi. Today, archaeological remains and historical sites mark Jahanpanah’s location, offering insights into medieval Indian history and the sophisticated urban planning of the time.
