Jacques Charles
Jacques Charles was a French scientist and inventor known for discovering that gases expand when heated. His most famous achievement was launching the first human-carrying hot air balloon in 1783, which demonstrated that gases could be used for flight. He also formulated Charles's Law, showing that at constant pressure, the volume of a gas increases proportionally with temperature. His work helped advance the understanding of gases and contributed to aeronautics and thermodynamics. Charles's experiments marked important steps toward the development of modern ballooning and our understanding of the behavior of gases.
