Italian Front Campaigns
The Italian Front Campaigns during World War I were a series of battles fought between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Italy from 1915 to 1918. The conflict primarily took place along the Isonzo River and in the mountainous regions of northern Italy. Italy aimed to expand its territory, while Austria sought to defend its holdings. The campaigns were marked by difficult terrain, trench warfare, and significant casualties on both sides. Key battles included the twelve Isonzo battles and the decisive Battle of Caporetto in 1917, which led to Italian retreats but ultimately set the stage for Allied victories in 1918.
