Israel's War of Independence

Israel's War of Independence, which occurred from 1947 to 1949, followed the United Nations' 1947 resolution to partition Palestine into Jewish and Arab states. Following this decision, violence erupted between Jewish and Arab communities. When Israel declared its independence in May 1948, neighboring Arab states invaded. The war resulted in the establishment of Israel, but also led to the displacement of many Palestinians, creating a complex and ongoing conflict. The war ended in 1949 with armistice agreements but left unresolved tensions and territorial disputes that continue to affect the region today.
