Islamic legal schools (madhhab)

Islamic legal schools, called madhhab, are different approaches to interpreting Islamic law (Sharia). They originated in different regions and developed distinct methods for understanding the Quran and Hadith (sayings of the Prophet). The four main Sunni madhhabs are Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali, each with unique reasoning and legal principles. Shia Islam primarily follows the Jafari school. These schools offer diverse but respected perspectives, allowing Muslims to follow one that aligns with their community, culture, and personal understanding, while all aim to uphold Islamic principles.
