ischemic preconditioning
Ischemic preconditioning is a protective process where brief, controlled episodes of reduced blood flow to an organ or tissue are deliberately induced before a longer period of ischemia (restricted blood supply). These short periods help the tissue adapt and build resilience, making it less likely to sustain damage during the subsequent longer ischemic event. This technique is studied especially in heart and brain health to minimize injury during surgeries or heart attacks, essentially training the tissue to better withstand future stress by activating natural defense mechanisms.
