Iron Production
Iron production primarily involves extracting iron ore from the earth and then refining it through a process called smelting. In smelting, the ore is heated in a blast furnace with coke (a form of coal) and limestone. The heat causes chemical reactions that separate the iron from other elements. The molten iron collects at the bottom of the furnace, where it can be tapped out and further processed to make steel or other iron-based products. This process transforms raw ore into usable iron for construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure.
