Iraqi Civil War
The Iraqi Civil War (2013–2017) was a conflict primarily between the Iraqi government and extremist groups like ISIS, following years of political instability and sectarian tension. ISIS, a brutal jihadist organization, seized large parts of Iraq, aiming to establish a caliphate. Iraq's military, supported by international allies, fought to reclaim territories. The war involved intense battles, widespread violence, and significant civilian suffering. Ultimately, Iraqi forces regained most areas, but the conflict left deep divisions, destruction, and ongoing challenges for regional stability and national reconciliation.
