ionic liquids
Ionic liquids are salts that are liquid at relatively low temperatures, often below 100°C. Unlike common table salt, which melts into a solid when cooled, ionic liquids remain liquid because their ions (charged particles) are arranged in ways that prevent them from crystallizing easily. They have unique properties such as high thermal stability, negligible vapor pressure (they don't evaporate readily), and good electrical conductivity. These qualities make ionic liquids useful in applications like advanced solvents, energy storage, catalysis, and nanotechnology, offering environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional liquids in various industrial processes.
