invention of FM radio

FM radio was invented by Edwin Armstrong in the 1930s as a way to improve radio broadcasting. Unlike AM radio, which changes the amplitude of the signal and can be easily affected by noise, FM (frequency modulation) transmits sound by varying the frequency of the radio wave. This results in clearer sound quality and less static. Armstrong’s innovation allowed radio signals to be more resistant to interference, vastly improving audio fidelity and making music and voice transmissions much clearer for listeners. This advancement revolutionized radio and laid the foundation for modern high-fidelity sound broadcasting.
