Inuvialuit Settlement Region
The Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR) is a designated area in Canada's western Arctic, where the Inuvialuit, an Indigenous group, have rights to self-governance and land use. Covering parts of Yukon, Northwest Territories, and the Arctic Ocean, the region was established through the Inuvialuit Final Agreement in 1984. It aims to preserve Inuvialuit culture, protect the environment, and support sustainable development. The ISR includes traditional hunting, fishing, and living practices, and is managed through agreements that balance economic growth with cultural and environmental conservation.
