Intracapsular Cataract Extraction (ICCE)

Intracapsular Cataract Extraction (ICCE) is a surgical procedure to remove a cataract, which is a clouding of the eye's lens causing vision problems. During ICCE, the entire lens, along with its surrounding capsule, is carefully extracted from the eye. This surgery is less common today, as it has largely been replaced by techniques that preserve the capsule and allow for the insertion of an artificial lens. ICCE can be suitable for specific cases, but it often requires longer recovery and may lead to more complications than modern cataract surgeries.
