Interval Notation

Interval notation is a way to clearly specify a range of numbers along a number line. It uses brackets and parentheses to indicate whether the endpoints are included or excluded. For example, [2, 5) means all numbers from 2 up to but not including 5; the square bracket [ ] shows 2 is included, while the parenthesis ( ) shows 5 is not. Conversely, (1, 4] includes all numbers greater than 1 up to and including 4. This notation provides a precise, compact way to describe continuous sets of values in mathematics.
