Interstitial Lung Fibrosis
Interstitial lung fibrosis is a condition where the tissue in the lungs becomes thick and scarred. This scarring, or fibrosis, makes it difficult for the lungs to function properly, leading to breathing difficulties and a reduced ability to take in oxygen. It can be caused by various factors, such as long-term exposure to pollutants, certain medications, autoimmune diseases, or can occur without a known cause (idiopathic). Symptoms often include a persistent dry cough and shortness of breath. While there is no cure, treatments focus on managing symptoms and improving quality of life.
