Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4)
Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) is a fundamental technology that enables devices to communicate over the internet. It assigns unique numerical addresses, known as IP addresses, to each device, allowing data to be sent to the correct destination. An IPv4 address consists of four sets of numbers, each ranging from 0 to 255, separated by periods (e.g., 192.168.1.1). While IPv4 allows for about 4.3 billion addresses, the growing number of online devices has led to IPv6, which offers a much larger address space. IPv4 remains widely used for most internet traffic today.
